Happy Ever AppsterŪ Daylilies

Happy-Ever-AppsterŪ Daylilies, the first and only line of hardy, alternative-color, everblooming Daylilies.

"They're not just Stellas anymoresm."

How do you live Happy Ever AppsterŪ?

Take the ever-popular 'Happy Returns' daylily, breed in new color, and you get a Happy-Ever-AppsterŪ.  So, where did the name for this brand line come from?

Happy - All daylilies are ecstatically proud children of 'Happy Returns'

Ever - These are everblooming daylilies from summer to frost.

Appster - This line is hybridized by world-renowned daylily hydridizer, Dr. Darrell Apps, who has isolated the everblooming recessive gene.  Ah, a new beginning!

Apricot Sparkles PPAF

This everblooming dwarf is deep apricot with astounding diamond dusting qualities (shining particles on petals), hence the name.  Starts extra early and continues to frost.  A blooming fool, Dr. Apps says it flowers heavier than any Daylily he's ever developed.  The plant is small and its foliage is diminutive, however blooms measure over 4" wide, scape height 15".  Patented:  Propagation Prohibited!

Big Time Happy

This daughter of 'Happy Returns' is close in color, perhaps a touch more on the creamy side.  It sports flowers with double the surface area of 'Happy Returns', 4-5" across.  The lemon-yellow blooms inherit their ruffling from its other noted parent, 'Brocaded Gown' (a Trophytaker).  'Big Time Happy' also shows off a green throat and a near white central petal ray.  Despite the bigger flower, this maintains a short habit at 18", with wider, greener foliage, more substance and greater presence.  This is a dormant diploid starting extra early and continuing to frost.

Happy Returns

Starting twenty-seven years ago with 'Stella D'Oro' and lesser known remontant plants, Dr. Apps made thousands of crosses in search of improved ever-bloomers.  Six generations and 8,000 seedlings later he achieved 'Happy Returns', the lemon ever-bloomer.,  the most sought after landscape Daylily in the world.  Flowers are 3" with scape height at 16".  It has sold millions and is just getting started!  Unfortunately there are two additional strains as result of aberrations in tissue culture labs; both are inferior, one a paler tone and another a taller and paler form.  Ours is true material obtained from Dr. Apps' stock.  'Happy Returns' is a dormant diploid starting extra early and continuing to frost.

Red Hot Returns PPAF

As a result of several generations of new seedlings back-crossed with other known remontants, Dr. Apps presents the first, hardy, true-red everbloomer.  Blooms are rounded and 5"+, with wide, recurved-back petals of brilliant, hot cherry red with lemon throat and grass green tonsils.  The intensity of this plant is indescribable.  Habit is 24" tall with deep green foliage and a moderate rate of clump development.  'Red Hot Returns' is a semi-evergreen diploid which starts early-mid season (10-14 days after 'Rosy Returns') and continues to fall.  Although it does not bloom quite as early or quite as late as 'Happy', 'Red Hot Returns' is the longest blooming red in existence that will live in the north.  Limited Supply.  This plant is patented:  Propagation Strictly Prohibited!

Rosy Returns PP9779

In 1999, Dr. Apps achieves his masterpiece breakthrough, the first northern-hardy, rose pink everbloomer.  Its genealogy includes 'Stella D'Oro', 'Susie Wong', 'Happy Returns', 'Sugar Cookie', 'Brocaded Gown', 'Pardon Me' and 'Fragrant Treasure', some re-entering the bloodline in two generations.  Blooms 4"+ in bright rose, deep rose eyezone, yellow throat.  Very short at 14", with slender foliage similar to 'Stella'.  A good doer and makes a clump quickly.  Dormant diploid which starts early (about a week after 'Happy') and continues to frost.  This plant is patented.  Propagation Strictly Prohibited!
